Once a bright little go-to place for all things warm and domestic, Bowl and Board is now a vacant eyesore, complete with boarded up windows, graffiti, and Scott Brown for Senate stickers. What makes this Mass Ave casualty so jarring is its enormous size and prominent location right at the crossroads of Mass Ave, and Putnam Ave, the gateway to Harvard Square.
How many of these enormous empty stores can realistically be filled with quality retail in the next few years? Are landlords reducing the rents to a level that makes sense in this new economy? What other creative uses for this space are there?
